"Riverine Landscapes as
Ecosystem Sentinels"
2-6 August 2027
Kruger National Park, South Africa

The International Society for River Science (ISRS) and the Southern African Society for Aquatic Scientists (SASAqS) are delighted to announce our joint 2027 conference, to be held in Kruger National Park, South Africa, from 2–6 August 2027.
The conference theme, Riverine Landscapes as Ecosystem Sentinels, recognises that rivers provide powerful signals of environmental and social change. River systems reflect the combined influences of climate, catchment processes, ecological change and human activity, and therefore offer important insights into ecosystem condition, resilience, vulnerability and societal wellbeing.
The conference will bring together an international and multidisciplinary community of river scientists, managers, practitioners, policy makers and others working with riverine landscapes.
Our venue within Kruger National Park provides an exceptional setting for these discussions. Its rivers have a long history of river monitoring, research and management, providing a unique landscape in which to explore contemporary challenges and future directions in river science.
